The First Steps of a Bordeaux Dynasty

At just 23, Alfred de Luze returned to Europe and founded his import-export company: A. de Luze & Fils. He settled at 88-89 Quai des Chartrons in Bordeaux, a booming port city. There, he established one of the very first wine trading houses, laying the foundation for the family's export business.

1822-1880

Alfred de Luze: Bordeaux’s Visionary

Alfred de Luze dedicated his life to promoting fine wines and spirits around the globe. His ambition and perseverance earned him the noble title of Baron de Luze. In just a few years, Maison de Luze became one of the most prosperous wine merchant, specializing in the maturation, bottling, and trade of Bordeaux Grands Vins and Cognac. A true pioneer in Bordeaux’s Place de Bordeaux, Alfred de Luze founded a dynasty of wine merchants whose expertise endures to this day.

1991

A Powerful Alliance – A New Era in Wine Trade

In 1991, the Maison de Luze reached a major turning point by merging with several leading Bordeaux négociants to form the Grands Vins de Gironde group. The group quickly established itself as a major player in the Bordeaux wine industry.

2011

A New Era Begins

In 2011, the family-run Castéja Group acquired the business, ushering in a new chapter for the company.
